A Letter from Rev. Lynette Sparks

December 22, 2022

Dear Members and Friends of Westminster,

As we celebrate the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ, on behalf of the entire church staff, I would like to wish you all a very holy and blessed Christmas season. It is our joy and honor to serve this congregation. The gift of your presence in our lives is a visible reminder of the Incarnation—God present with us on earth, and for that we give thanks!

As of this writing, much remains uncertainabout the wintry weather forecast and what its impact will be on Christmas services, travel plans, and family gatherings. Still, the Holy One will be born in the manger, and Christmas will come. Regardless.

In his poem “Let the Star of Morning Rise,” Ted Loder writes,

In the darkness I see the light
and find in it comfort,
confidence,
cause for celebration,
for the darkness cannot overcome it;
and I rejoice to nourish it
in myself,
in other people,
in the world
for the sake of him
in whom it was born
and shines forever,
even Jesus the Christ.

May the light of Christ’s birth shine in your hearts and in the world this day and every day.

Merry Christmas,

Rev. Lynette Sparks
