Letter Writing for Mental Health Advocacy

Sunday, April 23, 11 a.m., Gathering Place

The Mental Health Committee of Together West Michigan, through numerous community conversations, found that there is a serious lack of mental health providers to adequately serve our community. As a result, we are launching a letter writing campaign urging our State Representatives and State Senators to support the $5 million in the Governor’s 2024 budget proposal which is earmarked for scholarships for students entering the mental health profession. Because we found there is a severe shortage of mental health providers who are non-English speaking or people of color, we are asking that these students be prioritized for this funding. Please stop by after church to sign a letter to both your state rep and state senator. We can help you identify your State Representative and State Senator if you don’t know who they are.
