Within the mission of Westminster Presbyterian Church to “welcome all in the name of Christ,” we strive to provide a secure, respectful, and warm environment for all, and to assist and equip the congregation so that all who enter this church feel safe, welcomed, wanted, and accepted.
Open Door ministry
The Open Door Ministry provides a welcoming space for our Heartside neighbors.
Everyone is welcome. Volunteers warmly greet folks who are looking for a safe place to rest, enjoy a cup of coffee, use the restroom, and make phone calls. The volunteers recognize the importance of creating an atmosphere where our neighbors can visit together as well as with the volunteers. If those who come to the Open Door have needs that we do not provide, we help them find the appropriate agencies that address those needs. It is common for the volunteers to hear expressions of warm appreciation for Westminster’s Open Door Ministry, and often the words, “God bless you,” as folks get ready to leave.
The Open Door Ministry is open Monday through Thursday from 9:00a–4:00p. Volunteer weekday greeters work once a week, either in the morning or in the afternoon.
