Jessica Eisen • Infant Teacher • Turtle Room
Jessi holds a CDA and her Associates’ Degree in Early Childhood Education and has been on staff since December 2007. Jessi joined the field expressly to ‘make a difference’ in the lives of children. A talented artist, Jessi paints, sculpts and enjoys music, bringing her creativity into the classroom. Jessi attends and participates in the local festivals, relishing the activities and creativity. Jessi is from a large extended family and believes she was destined to work with children.
Tanya Gilbert • Assistant Director and School-Age Teacher • School-Age Room
Tanya has extensive child care experience, having started at WCDC in 1998. She has an Associate’s Degree with a major in Elementary Education and relishes her chosen field. Of particular interest to her is the opportunity to help children develop their language and conversational skills and uses reading and the arts to help engage them in discussion. Her artistic talents in crafts and scrapbooking are brought into the classroom as she encourages the children to explore the creative side of learning. Tanya loves being a part in running a wonderful center and building relationships with the children and their families.
Away from work, Tanya enjoys scrapbooking and sewing as well as spending time with her husband, Greg, and their two boys, Hunter and Clay.
Amber Marz-Momany • Director
Dedicated to learning and personal development, Amber has been with Westminster since 2005, having worked her way up from college co-op intern to teacher, assistant director and director, appointed in May 2010. Amber has enjoyed every aspect of running a successful business, managing a strong, experienced staff and enjoying the daily joys found in a nurturing environment. Amber’s expertise in process and systems has brought new levels of organization to the overall business aspect of the WCDC. Her staff relies on her strong leadership skills and collaborative methods. An avid outdoors person, Amber enjoys a number of sports and outdoor activities with her husband and son, Jackson, who is cared for at WCDC.
Linda McDiarmid • Rotational Teacher • Classroom: Dinosaur Room
The WCDC is blessed to have had Linda since May 2009, having previously worked in Westminster Presbyterian Church for many years. Linda works part time in the Dinosaur Room and occasionally rotates to other rooms. Linda holds her Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education and enjoys working with the children. She brings her special qualities of tenacity and persistence to the lessons she teaches. Linda is married with a son, Daniel, who is attending college.
Kate Phillips • Older Preschool Teacher • Bunny Room
Kate has been with the WCDC since January 2014 and has a Bachelors Degree in Psychology and Child Development. Working in the Bunny Room, Kate loves encouraging innately curious minds to explore the world. One of the most rewarding aspects of her job is seeing the light bulbs of understanding pop on in her students.
An avid traveller, Kate has a passion for learning - particularly about other cultures. She also enjoys being outdoors while backpacking, hiking or canoing. Along with her "amazing" husband, Randy, and their trusty dog, Kaiser, Kate spends much of her free time remodeling old homes.
Jacqueline Sain • Toddler Teacher • Classroom: Panda Room
Jackie holds a Child Development Associate Degree and began working with WCDC in April 2014. With over 20 years of experience in the field, Jackie finds her favorite part of her job to be watching the toddlers learn new things in the world and laughing at all the silly things that make them happy.
Jackie also enjoys spending time at home with her children, as well as cooking, reading, shopping, watching movies and singing karaoke.
Kris Schuen • Older Toddler Teacher • Monkey Room
Kris has been with WCDC since May 2013 working with the toddlers and preschoolers. She earned an Associates Degree in Early Child Development, and enjoys many aspects of her job. Particularly, Kris takes joy in watching the children accomplish new tasks independently. According to Kris, there is nothing like seeing a child put their coat on for the first time and seeing how proud they are of themselves.
Kris enjoys spending time outdoors whenever possible, and enjoys every season that Michigan has to offer. A frequent skier in the winter, Kris also enjoys kayaking when the water isn’t frozen and playing tennis.
Sarah Shustha • Cook
Sarah "Sunshine" has been a huge part of the WCDC since 2011. She loves working with the kids and has always had a passion for cooking. Sarah loves spending time with the kids, especially when they tell her about how much they love her food!
Sarah enjoys being with her family, spending time outdoors and doing anything fun with her teen and her baby.
Jennifer Taylor • Infant Teacher • Turtle Room
Jen has been with WCDC since July 2001 and holds an Associate’s Degree in Child Development. Jen enjoys watching and supporting the babies as they achieve first milestones. She enjoys all forms of music and enjoys playing the piano, and employs music in the classroom to sooth and invigorate the babies. A naturally gifted organizer, Jen enjoys keeping the room clean and tidy. Married with one daughter, Ava, who attends WCDC, along with the family beagle, Jen claims she has the best of both worlds, a loving family and the opportunity to care for babies.
Patti Walsh • Young Preschool Teacher • Dinosaur Room
Patti is the most tenured teacher at the WCDC, having worked here since December 1981. A life-long learner, with numerous hours of training and education, Patti is dedicated to sharing her enthusiasm for learning with her students. She regards her work as a daily reward, knowing she has guided the development and growth of countless children over the years. Patti is personally experienced in supporting the communication and educational requirements of her teenage son, Shane, who is cognitively impaired and has speech Apraxia. Her understanding about special needs children makes Patti a valued collaborator for all staff. Patti enjoys reading, bowling and spending time with her husband and her three sons.
Veronica Washington • Toddler Teacher • Classroom: Panda Room
Veronica has been with WCDC since August 2009 and holds an Associate’s Degree in Early Child Development. A teacher of the 1-2 year olds in the Panda Room, she regards her role as integral to the learning and development of the children she instructs, finding joy in their milestones. Veronica, or “Roni”, enjoys meeting with parents, ensuring their comfort in their child’s attainments.
Outside of the classroom, Veronica enjoys spending time with her son, Benji Wolfe, as well as watching movies, playing pool and listening to music. An avid football fan, Roni also enjoys basketball and tennis.
