Rev. Laurie Hartzell

Laurie Hartzell

Interim Pastor for Youth and Mission

As an interim pastor, Laurie works with our youth committee, faith formation team, youth leaders, and young people in our youth ministry. She works to offer brave spaces to nurture our youth as they grow in faith, leadership and community. Passionate about community partnerships, Laurie also serves as staff support for our social justice team and works closely with our broad based organizing and racial justice efforts.   She also serves as staff liaison to the Core Mission Boards of Camp Henry, the Westminster Childhood Development Center, and the Food Pantry.

Prior to coming to Westminster, she served as pastor of the First Presbyterian Church in Benton Harbor for a decade. Before becoming a pastor, Laurie spent over two decades working in public education as a middle school math teacher and middle and elementary school counselor.  She has had the privilege of walking with people in spiritual direction for almost three decades and has spent most of her adult life living, working and learning in marginalized communities.
