Summer: Growing Together in Faith

Here are some ideas for families to grow together in faith this year!

Bible Story Exploration

  • Read a Bible story, and If it’s hard to read a Bible story at supper time, try before bedtime or at a special snack time (If you need a good Bible Storybook, contact Nancy Greidanus)
  • Have your child read parts of the story aloud
  • Watch the Children’s Ministries Bible stories on Westminster’s YouTube channel
  • Enjoy our Sunday worship center books program (everyone is welcome ages three through fourth grade, and older people can be helpers if check in with Nancy)

Our Story Exploration

  • Share faith stories with each other to remind us of how God is at work in our lives everyday
    • Ask questions: Where did you see God today? Could you share a time when you felt that God was really close to you? What stories have you heard about how God worked in the lives of other people? What is your favorite Bible story and why?
  • Share “highlights and lowlights” to show mutual love and compassion

Growing in Good Faith Habits (meal times and bedtimes are good for these)

  • Spend time each day praying and reading/reciting scripture (look on our website in the Children’s Ministries section for monthly scripture and prayers as well as on our children’s check-in table)
  • Learn and sing songs to praise God together (there are recorded songs on our YouTube Channel as well)
  • Children who have been in the worship centers can sing and teach our worship center songs and the motions that go with them

Growing in Service

  • Encourage collecting money for a special project (Westminster’s Food Pantry for example or begin collecting for the Christmas Giving Tree)
  • Volunteer together for causes you care about
  • Get to know your neighbors and care for those in need
  • Talk about injustice and advocate for change together
