Privacy Policy

We take our members’ and visitors’ privacy and confidentiality seriously.

Throughout the course of worship and programming at Westminster, we may collect information about you, such as your name, postal or email addresses, telephone numbers, pastoral concerns, and prayer requests. We use this information in the strictest confidence, and only for purposes related to Westminster’s programs and ministries.

Pastoral concerns

Members often share deeply personal information with our staff—particularly clergy. We consider pastoral care concerns, prayer requests, and similar confidential information to be absolutely private and confidential, unless you specifically tell us otherwise.

Staff may disclose this information to each other for the purposes of coordinating care and response. We use a “minimum necessary” standard for such disclosures.

Reporting abuse

We take extremely seriously our responsibility to watch for and report physical and sexual abuse. We may be required by law to report certain information shared with us, even when it is shared in confidence.

Providing us your email address offers permission to contact you by email. You may revoke this and unsubscribe at any time. We carefully scrutinize no-spam policies, and we never share your email address for marketing or solicitation purposes.

Websites and social media

Information on the Internet is considered public when it is fully accessible without requiring a login or special connection.

We sometimes discover information via Internet and social media sites, and pastoral care staff may contact members based on this. However, we consider such information private, unless you have otherwise chosen to make it public.

Photos and videos

We occasionally take photos and videos of events, which may be posted publicly on our website, on social media sites, or in our print communications. If you do not wish to have your picture used publicly, please contact the church office.

Who to contact with questions

At any time, you may contact the church office at 616-456-1456 with questions or concerns about your personal information.
