Sanctuary (Adult) Choir
The Sanctuary Choir is Westminster’s principal choir and sings every Sunday during worship at 11:00am from September through May. The Sanctuary Choir sings a variety of music—from hymns to the works of the great masters—and presents two major works every year: a Christmas concert open to the public and a spring presentation during worship. The Sanctuary Choir is open to all adults, members and non-members alike, college age and above. No vocal auditions are required and new members are always welcome. Rehearsals are Thursday evenings from 7:30–9:30pm. The Sanctuary Choir is directed by Helen Hofmeister, Minister for Music.
The Westminster Winds is a multi-generational group of volunteer instrumentalists. The Westminster Winds is open to anyone sixth grade through adults. All are welcome and no auditions are required. The Westminster Winds is directed by Henry Duitman.
The Westminster Festival Strings is also a multi-generational volunteer group, consisting of string players from sixth grade through adult. The Festival Strings is directed by Lee Copenhaver.
Children's and Youth Choirs
Children’s choir programs (preschool through fifth grade) are integrated with the Sunday morning education hour, providing children with an opportunity for multidisciplinary learning while easing scheduling stress on families. Three year-olds through kindergarten are introduced to music ministry through the Cantus Choir, directed by Jackie Schoon. First and second-graders can take part in the Cherub Choir, directed by Luanne K. Barnes. The Carol Choir is open to children in third through fifth grade, directed by Luanne K. Barnes. Besides singing in Sunday morning services, the Carol Choir also participates in a musical in the spring.
The Chapel Singers choir is open to sixth through eighth-graders, both members and non-members. This group also rings handbells. The Chapel Singers participate regularly in the worship services and participate in a spring musical. The Kirk Singers choir is open to high school students, members and non-members. The Kirk Singers sing approximately once a month for morning worship services, and they also participate in the annual Christmas Concert. The Kirk and Chapel Singers are directed by Helen Hofmeister, Minister of Music.
