Associate Pastor
As Associate Pastor, Rev. Jen Porter focuses on pastoral care and formation ministries for adults. Working with Susan Jennings, our pastoral staff joins people at any point in life offering prayer and support. Jen supports our Supporting Deacons as they extend the ministry of care. In the area of Adult Faith Formation, Jen oversees opportunities for us to connect with one another and grow in our faith through prayer, scripture, theology, reflection, and interfaith relationships. She loves spiritual conversations about faith and helping people discern where God is inviting them next.
Jen graduated from Western Theological Seminary in 2006 and has served with us since 2014. Since joining us she has become trained as a facilitator in restorative circles, helping people move through conflict in a structured, mediated way. She also received training as an Advance Care Planning facilitator through a Making Choices Michigan interfaith initiative. With the Shalem Institute, Jen learned the rhythm of contemplative prayer, leaning back behind our thoughts and ego and knowing ourselves connected to the Divine.
