Mission Partnerships at Westminster Update

Focus on: Guiding Light
Mission Partnership Committee members have met with Guiding Light staff, enjoyed lunch with the participants, and recently hosted Brian Elve, Executive Director of Guiding Light, at our monthly meeting. Brian made a most informative presentation. His energy and enthusiasm for life-long recovery is inspiring. Guiding Light is in its 95th year. It is a recovery program that has been exclusively for men; however, women’s programming will begin in a few months at another location. An important concept is to establish relationships and have a sense of community. Members of Westminster have been involved in this most essential and important work in our community. As part of recovery, Guiding Light also provides transitional housing and guidance for jobs. 78% of the men are sober after a year. Guiding Light is 100% donor funded, including an annual contribution from Westminster through the mission budget. Thank you to all who have contributed time and treasure to this very important work.
